Much of a recruiter's week goes to search, outreach, scheduling and notes. AI recruiting tools now go after that busywork: they find candidates, write the first message, score inbound applications and take interview notes. Many of them work inside the applicant tracking system (ATS) your team already uses.

This guide covers eight real tools for recruiters, talent teams and the HR generalists who hire at small companies, as of October 2026. Every plan name, price and limit below is copied from the vendor's own pricing or product page. Many recruiting vendors do not publish prices, and we say so where that is the case. Plans change often, so check the linked page before you buy. If you hire for a small company and also run its other tools, see our guide to AI tools for small business owners.

How these tools split up

The eight tools fall into four jobs. Three help you find and contact candidates. Three are an ATS or hiring platform with AI built in. One records and summarizes interviews. One writes job posts and recruiting messages.

Diagram sorting eight AI recruiting tools into four jobs: sourcing (LinkedIn Hiring Assistant, Juicebox, Gem), ATS with AI (Ashby, Workable, Paradox), interviews (Metaview) and writing (Textio)

Before you pick, check four things:

  • Where it runs: inside your ATS, or as a separate app that syncs to it.
  • How it bills: per seat, per company size, or per AI action (credits).
  • Who decides: whether the AI only ranks and drafts, or sends messages and rejects candidates on its own.
  • Local rules: some places regulate automated hiring tools. See the compliance section below.

Sourcing and outreach

LinkedIn Hiring Assistant

Hiring Assistant is LinkedIn's AI assistant for recruiters. The product page says it helps "recruiting teams source, evaluate, and engage talent." The FAQ says Hiring Assistant "is available for purchase as an add-on to LinkedIn Recruiter," and to buy it you contact sales or your LinkedIn representative. No price is listed.

The FAQ lists it as available in English, French, German, Dutch, Spanish, Portuguese and Italian. It also says a new version, Hiring Assistant 2, "will begin rolling out to customers in early November." LinkedIn keeps a separate AI transparency page for the product.

Best for: teams that already pay for LinkedIn Recruiter and source mostly on LinkedIn.

Juicebox

Juicebox (also called PeopleGPT) is AI candidate search. You describe the person you want in plain words and its "AI search-builder" writes the query, so "No Booleans needed." The FAQ says it has "800 million profiles across the globe from dozens of data sources."

Plans as listed, per seat per month:

  • Free: $0, with "Limited free searches" and AI email templates.
  • Starter: $99 billed yearly, or $119 monthly, with unlimited searches and 500 contact credits (email and phone).
  • Growth: $179 billed yearly, or $199 monthly, with 1,500 contact credits and up to 5 seats.
  • Business: custom, annual only.
  • Juicebox Agents add-on: "$199 per agent/month," set to auto-email or auto-shortlist.

Best for: agency recruiters and solo sourcers who want a self-serve tool they can start the same day.

Gem

Gem is a recruiting CRM and sourcing platform that can sit on top of your current ATS or replace it with its own All-in-One plan. Its AI agents include an AI Sourcing Agent that searches "800M+ profiles automatically," an AI Application Review Agent that scores inbound applications, an AI Talent Rediscovery Agent for past candidates, and an AI Fraud Detection Agent. The AI features unlock with what Gem calls an "AI-Powered seat."

Both plans are listed as custom pricing "Based on your company's FTE count." Gem's startup program says: "Under 30 employees? You get Gem All-in-One free for six months, then 50% off when you move to a paid plan." The Gem Startup Program calculator showed $130 per month (marked down from $270) for 1 to 10 FTE on yearly billing, covering AI Sourcing and CRM, Analytics, Scheduling and ATS.

Best for: in-house talent teams that run high-volume outbound sourcing.

ATS and hiring platforms with AI built in

Ashby

Ashby is an all-in-one recruiting product with three plans: Foundations, Plus and Enterprise. Foundations is for companies with up to 100 employees, and its calculator showed $300 per month for 1 to 10 employees up to $900 per month for 76 to 100 employees on monthly billing. The page says "10% discount for annual commitments available," which the calculator showed as $270 to $810 per month. Plus and Enterprise are priced through sales. The plan grid lists AI features such as AI Candidate Search, AI Outreach Personalization, AI Assisted Application Review, Fraudulent Candidate Detection, an AI Candidate Assistant that "Answers questions about a candidate in chat," and an MCP server that connects tools like ChatGPT and Claude to your Ashby data.

Some AI is metered or extra. The grid lists AI Credits at "1,500 credits per mo." on Foundations, and the AI Notetaker, which records, transcribes and summarizes interviews, is a "Paid Add-On" on every plan.

Best for: startups and growth companies that want one system from sourcing to offer.

Workable

Workable sells an ATS and an HR system, priced by company size. With the page's default settings (1 to 20 employees, annual billing), it listed Standard at $299/month ($3,588/year), Premier at $599/month and Enterprise at $719/month. Premier and Enterprise are paid annually. Standard billed monthly was $360/month. The price changes with company size, so pick yours on the page.

Its AI is the Workable Agent. The Job Brief Agent is included, while the Sourcing, Screening and Engagement agents use AI credits. "Each ATS plan comes with 3,000 complimentary AI credits." The page lists what each action costs: 1 credit to screen a candidate, 2 to source a passive candidate, and 10 each time a candidate uses the chat. Extra packs start at 5,000 credits for $600 total. Two limits to note: the 15-day free trial "does not include Workable Agent," and credits "expire 1 year from purchase."

Number panel of listed prices as of October 29, 2026: Metaview sourcing $0, $100 and $300 and Notetaker $0 and $60 per user per month; Juicebox $0, $99 and $179 per seat per month billed yearly; Workable $299, $599 and $719 per month billed yearly at 1 to 20 employees; Workable 5,000 AI credits for $600; Ashby Foundations $300 to $900 per month by company size; Gem startup plan $130 per month for 1 to 10 FTE billed yearly; LinkedIn Hiring Assistant contact sales; Paradox and Textio by demo

Best for: small companies that want recruiting and basic HR in one bill.

Paradox

Paradox builds its product around Olivia, an AI assistant for hiring. The site lists applicant screening "through chat or text," interview scheduling where candidates pick a time slot, and video interviewing. Its Conversational ATS is described as "Mobile-first automation for frontline workers and managers," and the site lists integrations with Workday, SAP SuccessFactors and Indeed. The site does not list prices; it asks you to request a demo.

Best for: retail, restaurant, healthcare and other employers that hire hourly staff in volume.

Interviews

Metaview

Metaview sells an AI recruiting platform with an interview notetaker, a sourcing agent and application review. The FAQ says every user gets the full platform but you can "Start with only the sourcing agent, notetaker, or application review." It lists integrations with Ashby, Greenhouse, Lever, Gem and SmartRecruiters.

Each agent has its own price table. The sourcing plans, per user per month:

  • Free: $0, with the "First 100 profiles sourced free."
  • Pro: $100, with "200 profiles sourced per month."
  • Max: $300, with "Unlimited profiles sourced."
  • Enterprise: custom.

The Notetaker table is separate: Free is $0 with 25 calls per month and basic transcription, and Pro is $60 monthly per user with unlimited calls. Application Review lists Free at $0 for 50 applications per month and Pro at $150 monthly for 500 reviews per month. A bundle of all agents is custom priced. The FAQ adds that assistant questions and note regenerations are included "no credits, no usage limits."

Best for: teams that run many interviews and want notes and feedback written up fast.

Writing job posts and messages

Textio

Textio is an AI writing tool for recruiting content. It helps you "Generate optimized job posts from just a few details," write sourcing messages and give interview feedback. The page says it uses "proven, inclusive recruiting language" to reach a wider pool of qualified candidates. It also sells Lavalier, an interview intelligence product. Textio does not list prices; you book a demo.

Best for: larger employers that want every job post and outreach email checked for tone and bias.

Compliance: check before you automate

AI that screens or ranks candidates can fall under hiring laws. In New York City, Local Law 144 of 2021 "prohibits employers and employment agencies from using an automated employment decision tool unless the tool has been subject to a bias audit within one year of the use of the tool," the audit information is public, and notices are given to employees or job candidates. The city says it began enforcing the law on July 5, 2023.

Vendors list their own compliance features. Ashby's plan grid lists "Compliance features (eg GDPR)" with consent and retention rules, and Workable lists "GDPR automation tools" and "EEO/OFCCP/CCPA compliance" among its features. These are vendor claims. Ask each vendor for its audit results before you let AI screen out applicants.

How to choose

  • You source on LinkedIn all day: start with LinkedIn Hiring Assistant if you already pay for Recruiter, or try Juicebox's free plan.
  • You want one system: compare Ashby and Workable. Workable lists prices for every company size; Ashby lists prices only for its Foundations plan (up to 100 employees).
  • You hire hourly staff at scale: look at Paradox.
  • Your interviews pile up: try Metaview's free Notetaker plan (25 calls per month), or Ashby's AI Notetaker add-on if you use Ashby.
  • Your job posts get few good applicants: look at Textio.

Keep a person on every reject decision. Most of these tools rank and draft; you stay responsible for who gets hired. For the rest of your day, see our guides to AI tools for productivity and AI for work email.
