Anthropic has expanded its Claude Certification Program to four role-based credentials and partnered with Pearson to deliver proctored, identity-verified exams through Pearson Professional Assessments.

The expanded program adds three new certifications to the original architect credential, covering the primary roles involved in enterprise Claude deployments. Claude Certified Associate: Foundations validates practical day-to-day use of Claude for consultants and project leads. Claude Certified Developer: Foundations targets engineers building applications with the Claude API, covering tool use and agent development. Claude Certified Architect: Foundations serves solution architects designing agent systems, while Claude Certified Architect: Professional is the advanced credential covering integration architecture, governance, and evaluation for large-scale deployments.

Each certification path starts at the foundation level before advancing to professional. Anthropic developed the exams with subject matter experts from its Applied AI team to reflect real deployment work rather than abstract knowledge.

The program has gained traction since its March 2026 launch alongside the Claude Partner Network and a $100 million investment. Anthropic reports more than 36,000 consultants certified across 1,300-plus organizations, with over 400,000 people completing training through Anthropic Partner Academy this year. Major consulting firms have committed to certifying at scale: Accenture plans 50,000 certified professionals, PwC 30,000, DXC 20,000, UST 20,000, Deloitte 15,000, and KPMG 15,000. AI-native firms are participating too, with Ascendion aiming to certify its entire 8,000-person engineering team before 2027 and EPAM planning more than 10,000 architect certifications.

Certified practitioner counts factor into a firm's standing within the Claude Partner Network. The top Global Premier tier requires 1,000 certified practitioners, 100 customers across three regions, and 15 public customer endorsements. The next network-wide review is scheduled for October 1.

Exams are proctored and identity-verified through Pearson, with passing candidates receiving digital badges via Credly. Training is available through Anthropic Partner Academy, and firms can join the Claude Partner Network at no cost to register practitioners.

Anthropic is positioning this as the first proctored certification among AI labs using the same assessment infrastructure Pearson applies to professional licensure. The move signals an effort to differentiate Claude from competitors on enterprise readiness rather than model benchmarks alone.
